Rromani Baxt Albania is a well respected NGO located in Tirana, Albania's capital city. The centre provides a range of vital services for the Roma community in the area.
This volunteer project is based in Tirana, Albania in the area of Allias-Kinostudio. Volunteers will be working in community schools in Rromani Baxt Albania, preserving a simple and traditional way of Roma community life. Most secondary Roma pupils start to learn a second language at about ten years old. In the first steps they face difficulties in foreign languages. The role of the native English-speaking volunteers is to teach conversational language skills.
Volunteers receive some help from the local teachers regarding lesson preparation and content. The volunteers will work around 5 hours a day from Monday to Friday. During their staying in Albania we will support them to know more about Roma culture and tradition(music, dancing etc). We will enable them at least one visit in a Roma family.
For all volunteers will be provided one trip during the weekend to discover the beauty of Albanian nature.
Volunteering in Albania means to make a small contribution to the fight against poverty and discrimination in one of Europe’s poorest countries. Volunteers in Albania predominantly work with children and by doing so they are directly contributing to these youngsters’ education.
